Kaydence hadn’t expected to see Axel that night at the school while setting up for her ten-year reunion, and since he seemed to beat around the bush, she decided to take matters into her own hands. She had no issue with going after what and who she wanted. Even with him having a decade-old history with her older sister’s best friend.
Axel knew her in high school, but the woman he ran into that night at the school had him wanting to get to know her all over again, in every way possible. He hadn’t been in a serious relationship over the past several years. His past military service and current profession were too much for some women, so he’d kept dating light. Now, he was ready to go all in.
Follow Kaydence and Axel as they navigate this new relationship, and deal with the highs and lows that come along with it.
EXCERPT:
“I’ll pay,” she told him when they made it to the ticket booth.
Axel wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her back against him. “No, you won’t,” he replied, handing the clerk money over her shoulder.
Once they had their admission tickets, they made their way into the theater, finding two seats in the back. It wasn’t long before the show started, and the two of them watched as it played out around them. Axel felt like he was floating through space.
At some point, Kaydence lifted the armrest between them and looped her arm through his again. Before resting her cheek against his shoulder.
When the show around them ended, the ceiling slowly opened up to reveal the night sky. The lights in the room that had been off during the show dimmed on, low enough for them to still see the stars that were out that night.
Axel looked down at Kaydence and hadn’t expected her to be looking back at him. He had held himself back all night and tried to be a gentleman. However, as he looked at her, the only thing he wanted to do was kiss her.
“Would you be mad if I kissed you right now?” Axel question. He wanted to ask her. It wasn’t as if they were brand new to each other, but he didn’t want to push his luck.
Her hand came up to his cheek, and she leaned up, placing her lips to his. Kaydence kissed him slowly for several seconds before pulling away and giving him a smile that could have every man falling to their knees.
“No,” she told him. “I wouldn’t be mad.”
With that, Axel leaned in and captured her lips with his.
